Cities that have recognized creativity as a key component of sustainable urban development can collaborate internationally through the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Encouraging richness of culture.

UNESCO established the Creative communities Network in 2004 to assist communities that use creativity and culture as catalysts for growth. This dynamic is realized locally: communities can increase employment, promote social cohesion, and grow their economies by fostering talents, assisting creative professions, and involving citizens. By making investments in a variety of cultural fields, including music, design, gastronomy, and media arts, these cities are creating practical plans that both address local needs and advance important global objectives like those stated in the 2030 Agenda.

The Network promotes collaboration between cities, expertise exchange, and solution pooling. It enables members to motivate one another and enhance the cultural policies’ effects on the economy, society, and environment.
