She has recently completed a book on Battlefield Lucknow for Harper Collins India to be published later this year and the final part of her trilogy on Claude Martin will be published as The Estate of Major General Claude Martin at Lucknow: an Indian Inventory next month. \nRosie visits the subcontinent as frequently as possible and was an invited speaker at a recent Jaipur Literature Festival.  She is part time archivist at the Royal Society for Asian Affairs and was a Council Member of the Royal Asiatic Society. She was awarded an MBE in 2015 for services to British India studies. \n

DESCRIPTION:ONLINE TALK by Prof.Dhir Sarangi of Centre for French & Francophone Studies\, JNU\, New Delhi.\n \nJean-Baptiste Gentil joined the court of Shuja-ud-Dula at Awadh\, becoming the French Resident here. He also helped set up a battalion of French mercenaries who served Shuja-ud-Daulah. The battalion was disbanded after his death. While serving at Oudh\, he purchased a large collection of objects of natural history\, weapons\, medals and manuscripts in many languages. When he returned to France he donated these collections to the royal library and museum. He also produced maps of the region and wrote on the history of the Moghul Empire. He was present at the battle of Buxar. He retired to France in 1778 and then died in Bagnols in 1799.\n \nThe Event will be presided by M. Emmanuel LEBRUN-DAMIENS (Counsellor for Cooperation & Cultural Affair)\, Embassy of France.\n \nThe Talk on the subject will be delivered by Prof.Dhir Sarangi of Centre for French & Francophone Studies\, JNU\, New Delhi.
